I began my teaching experience working with economically-disadvantaged English language learners in Los Angeles county, and for the past four years, I have been teaching middle-school at a private school in Seoul, South Korea and for three years in Alexandria, Egypt before that. Along the way, I have helped students from across all age groups, from elementary school students age expanding their study skills and exploring camp crafts, to college students needing help with statistics and graduate school entrance exams. I have worked with students on topics ranging from arithmetic through calculus, as well as English, biology, chemistry, and physics. In all situations, I enjoy creating an active and collaborative learning environment. I maintain a safe and dynamic classroom. I can focus a group of kindergarteners equally as well as a group of middle-school adolescents, and can ensure each student is confident that they have the tools to be successful with whatever they are attempting to learn.

Recognizing diverse backgrounds and pressures, I prioritize student-driven norms, emphasize growth mindsets no matter the curriculum, and provide opportunities for all students to be brave, curious, and open-minded about the world around them.
By emphasizing social-emotional growth with personalized interventions I foster inclusivity in my classroom through strategies like Making Thinking Visible, UDL, and prioritizing adaptive diverse learning spaces for my students.
I find inspiration from DEI leadership, curriculum development, and professional learning. It is key for all teams to develop cross-disciplinary connection, purposely fostering inclusivity, and guiding peer communities for continual improvement.
In my experience, the best and most meaningful learning happens when students can take an active role in ‘what’ they are learning, ‘why” they are learning it, and “how” they are learning.
Life long learners recognize the value of continuing education, evolving and adapting with each new advancement. It is my goal to lead by example for my students and anyone I work with.
